1 Poem by Zhong dingwen


 The Watcher

I stand on the hill,
Watching farther still —
And on the hill before my eyes
Stands another one,
Watching farther still
Like me.
In the setting sun and the evening twilight;
His stance is an ancient bronze statue,
Aloft in the space’s boundless chill.


About the author:
Zhong Dingwen (19142012), his penname Fan Cao, is a native of Shucheng County, Anhui Province. He graduated from University Department of Chinese Publich School, Shanghai and Kyoto Empire University, Japan. In 1948, he went to Taiwan. In 1954, he co-sponsored “Blue Star Society” with Qin Zihao, Xia Jing and others. He has been a professor at Fudan University, editor-in-chief ofZili Evening Newspaper, head of councils of Chinese Association of New Poetry, chairman of World Congress of Poets, president of the World Academy of Culture and Art. His major works include A Poet in Vagrancy, Recorded Poems of Landscapes, A Bunch of White Flowers, The Rainy Season, The Highland, The Bridge, and Sketches of Human Bodies, etc. And his works have been translated into a dozen foreign languages.

瞭望

我站在山岗上,
瞭望着远方——
而在我前面的山岗上,
也正站着一个瞭望者,
也正和我一样的
瞭望着远方。
镀上夕阳,而又染上暮色;
他的姿态是一座古老的铜像,
独立于宇宙的苍茫。


作者简介:
钟鼎文19142012),笔名番草,安徽舒城人。上海中国公学大学部及日本京都帝国大学毕业。1948年去台湾,1954年与覃子豪、夏菁等人发起成立“蓝星诗社”。历任复旦大学教授、《自立晚报》总编辑、中国新诗学会理事长、世界诗人大会主席、世界文化艺术学院院长等。主要作品有:《行吟者》、《雨季》、《山河诗抄》、《白色的花束》、《高原》、《桥》、《人体素描》等,其作品曾被译成十余种外国文字。
