Earth is sick
feverish ocean temperatures
birth monster storms
still-born fishing grounds
heat shimmering off baked lands, drying
dying farm lands, ravaged forests
fifty-foot towering monster waves
chews shores
high tides swamping lowlands
thunder shoots from mouths of cannons
harsh hellish winds, sounding like crying butterflies
having their wings pulled off
rushes us as a malevolent force
and—lighting hurled by angry gods
Earth is sick
feverish symptoms
coma thrashing nightmares
hurricanes larger than mythical legends
rise ever higher
Earth’s attempt to heal mankind’s
foolish actions—poisonous flooding of
her skies before its too late
Fools, Fool-In-Chief
driven by insane greed
ignoring reality
till it is too late
Earth is sick
pandemic fires sweep the West
flooding skies with ash
reducing sun to smudgy ball of fire
Hurricanes harass the Gulf
epic tornados tear the Heartland
killer floods swamp Bangladesh
Deliriously Earth tosses and turns
fighting desperately for her life
only way she knows how
like our bodies would, do fight an infection
only question is:
Will the human race fight likewise
or, instead will we go quietly
into that good night
