Too Much Love (Detroit Reverie)
Sun on grass and new day
Dance across the lawn together
Bee-hum in Granny’s lilacs
Patient, patient
Old song, ancient, like Jamaica, little Haiti
And nextdoor neighbor
Radio on a window ledge
Sing Whenever I See Your Smiling Face;
As we girls chase boys
All in and out of
Foch Elementary, sun on window panes
All gold-gleam clouds
That whisper little white lies
Bionote
