2 Poems by Shasta Hatter

Grandson

Blue shoes on brown trunk
arms around hanging branches
orange shirt in orange leaves
your father calls you away
I recall him in that tree

In Our Blood

Pen
sits
in hand
images ache
to spill on paper.
Precise words are our bandages.
