1 Poem by George Freek

A LACK OF REMORSE (After Su Tung Po)

My yard fills with snow.
If I wanted to, there’s
nowhere I could go.
The winds roam the street
like hungry swine,
searching for scraps to eat.
My wife is gone.
I once had a cat.
He also abandoned me.
I don’t blame him.
Like a lost violin
my life has come unstrung.
People avoid me,
and I wasn’t much fun
even when I was young.
