1 Poem by Ralph Spurgin

Seeing Too Much

I see people acting out the rituals of celebration,
in the vain hope they have something worth celebrating.
I see people doing charity work,
in the hope that a good deed
will cancel a hypocrisy,
like conflicting ripples in a pond.

I hope for Apathy to find me,
and allow these thoughts to let me be.

Bionote

Ralph was a military brat and later a corporate transferee. He has lived in 23 locations. In his working life he was a shoeshine boy, a door-to-door magazine salesman, a bill collector and President/CEO of a credit card financing and processing company with 5,000 employees and $5B in assets. He retired at 53 years old and since then has done volunteer work and traveled. He is 80 years old and, as he calls it, has been scribbling for sixty years.
