5 Poems by Helene Williams

Heartache

You speak the word love,
but it lands within my heart
like a hollow bone.
No substance to give it life.
And yet I will try again.

Cradled By Stillness

Needing to be held,
not by caring human hands,
but with the whisper
of the tall grasses and trees,
and the song of the sparrow.

Woodland Walk

How quickly I sink
Into the quiet rhythm
of the Earth’s soft breath.
Soothing the worry and fear
of the chaos of the world.

Presence
Reflecting today
on Morning Glory’s wisdom.
Born at the dawn’s light,
savoring this precious life,
that ends with the setting sun.

Deutschland

Footsteps on this land
feel new but quite familiar.
Something in my bones
connects to the edelweiss
and mountain ranges of fir.

Helene Williams is a Reiki teacher and retired registered nurse based in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She is drawn to themes of resilience, stillness, and the quiet interconnections between human experience and the beauty of the natural world. Her poems have appeared in The Orchards Poetry Journal and First Literary Review-East. Beyond writing and teaching, she spends much of her time in nature, accompanied by her dog, Jelly, or in the company of her horse, Starr, whose presence deepens her attunement to the rhythms of the earth.
