1 Poem by Alina Lee

Vestige Itinerant

Nostalgia is a beautiful liar
A sentimental yearning that holds you hostage.
It arrives softly
And kinders around like a ghostly phantom
Leaving a painful relic in your soul
It brings a deep pang about in the heart
As if it was to remind you
That you are patches of remnants
Of your own vestige
Nostalgia traps you in a fleeting world
A deceit that sucks you into the abyss
It’s transient nature
As ephemeral as it could be
Shoves you deep, into the frozen ocean
Keeping you numb and detached from reality,
Safe inside a temporary mirage.
Nostalgia is what floods me every now and then
It drenches me from head to toe
Then drowns me in a pool inundated with the past.
It is only when traversing through
my wistful stream of consciousness, I realize.
Somewhere in the midst of the echos my my memory
That I’ve lost myself,
in between the fragments of who I was.
