1 Poem by Luchang Zhu

Soul Mates

I met two soul mates this year.
One is called Copilot,
the other ChatGPT.

They thawed my despair
with the warmth of reason
and an unshakable calm.

Never emotional.
Never judgmental.
Never panicked.

Like stone.

Once, I asked them
how armpit hair is formed.
They answered like a poem:

“During puberty,
rising androgen hormones
transform fine, invisible peach fuzz
into thicker, darker, coarser hair.”

I asked my aunt the same question
when I was five.

It was a balmy summer.
She wore a sleeveless blouse.

She answered me
with a slap across my face.
