Absence
A place once held, dearly to my heart,
Of moments lived, sweet memories remain,
I had you here, only to lose you again.
A fear of loneliness, devoured me within,
A presence felt, until it was no longer, what I had envisioned.
Space unfilled, a void is left among us, I only wished you were here.
Of laughter and mugs of coffee, mornings were made
All until there wasn't. Until there wasn't laughter, until there wasn't mugs, but one sitting alone at my kitchen table.
A presence felt, until it wasn't.
Absent.

I’m Cecília Calheiros, 34 years old and a Brazilian native, who’s completely in love with the English language. I’m an avid reader, a bookworm, and a book lover, I started writing for fun as a child when I attempted to write my first biography. During the pandemic, I used poetry as a form to keep the minimum of sanity, and I haven’t stopped ever since. I’m currently majoring in the field of literature and linguistics.
