Where has the fire gone
Beside the hearth of doubt?
Leaves were green but now turn brown
Sad is the pyre of cynical thought.
The rhymes and legends so alive
That once traveled down the alleyway
Are tossed with cyclical pain into the archive
Lost in the darkest cloud of rain.
It started with the reign
Of old Antisthenes
Whose words return circling the mist
And douse the flame.
So, circle the wagons
And bring back the dragons!
Memories are whetted
With stronger words than can be fettered.
