Apple peel, rain
in the stratosphere,
hand sanitizer
and pastries on the bus,
scented body butter.
A new record
waiting to be itched
between its grooves.
The luminous
realization that you are
a country so invisible
someone stepping
off the bus walks
through instead of into
you. I slept naked
every night when
I was 18 because
an article told me
it would help me
like my body,
the drapes breathing
more deeply than me.
The years pass.
The air smells new
or ancient. It’s June.
