2 Poems by Akpa Arinzechukwu

After My Shadow Left

I am afraid
Even in my dreams to
Fall off from an unknown cliff

What a madman I’ve become
Ever since my shadow left

What My Love Is

My love is a soured apple
Hidden in a cracked dark earth pot
Buried in the far desert
Unmarked

My love is a mystery
I am afraid
The day it resurrects
I die again
