Cry Me an Ocean

The dark pools under my eyes formed riverbeds on my cheeks,
But the dams are breaking, the levees can’t hold,
And pretty soon you’ll have to swim the ocean just to find my voice.

4am

I toss and turn, while the clock ticks,
Keeping me awake with it’s mechanical laughter at my slow decline.
My skin crawls,
The insects of my faults reminding me that I will never be more than garbage,
My heart nothing more than the rotten fruit that Eve didn’t want,
Fermented several degrees too far,
No one will get drunk on me now.
