1 Poem by Michael E. Belongie

Open

“But we find as practitioners nothing goes away until
it has taught us what we need to know.”  Pema Chodron

             Oh, we are cavalier,
             outlier in seeming
             charmed decades,
             then sword hovers

            or is it lotus flower?
             Stamen, pistol sheathed
             in petals and its stem,
             anchored in silt.

             Its medium: impermanence,
            suffering, and our surrender.
